Original "Steel Art" Designs by Laura Ewing

After completing art courses in high school and at Malaspina College, Laura Ewing received drafting certification

in 1983 and has since been doing

graphic work and architectural drawings.

Laura creates nature drawings by hand, then converts them to computer graphics and applies these to a

computer driven cnc cutting table.

An Impressive Combination of Skills

These unique "steel art" creations were initially integrated into architectural pieces like

gates and railing work done by George at G.E.M. Fabrications.

Thus establishing a combining of their creative and architectural designing skills.

In the last few years however, these scenic birds, dragon-flies, fish, and many other creations have also

been integrated into the garden stakes, and wall hung scenes

now proudly displayed at G.E.M. Gates and Gifts Showroom.

Public Art on Display in Nanaimo

In 2010  Laura and George Ewing were commissioned to create a public art contribution in Nanaimo. This

marked the beginning of a series of  three dimensional scenes.

Two of these pcs are on display currently at Maffeo Sutton Park, and one on the Wallace St. face of Gallery

Row @ Fitzwilliam and Wallace St.

Some of Laura's artwork is currently mounted on the Gallery Row art frames.

Many examples of her work are currently on display and available for purchase at

 G.EM. Gates & Gifts Showroom.
